Falcons got the better of the Blue Eagles.
NO SWEEP!
That's the battle cry of the AdU Falcons when they fought the Ateneo Blue Eagles earlier this day. A lot were at stake in that game. Adamson had a 29 losing streak against ADMU from 1997 until their win today. 0-11, the record of Coach Leo Austria when he go head to head with Coach Norman Black, Coach Austria beat all the coaches in the UAAP except one, Coach Norman Black.
DEFENSE! was the key in their win against the unbeaten Ateneans. It was a close game in the first half but when the 3rd quarter started, Falcons left the Eagles in the dust and never looked back. AdU forced the Blue Eagles in their lowest output in this season with the score of 62-46 in favor of AdU.
The combination of Lester Alvares and Alex Nuyles led the Falcons steady attack. Nuyles was awarded with the best player of the game with his 21 points. He was continuously attacking the basket, there was no intimidation what so ever with the mighty Greg Slaughter in the middle.
They also avoided a worst complication in their win today, because a lost will gave them a playoff game to determine the seeding with either UST or FEU, whoever win the game tomorrow. Now, AdU sealed the 2nd spot , got the twice to beat advantage in the Final Four and also gave the Blue Eagles its first lost in the season (13-1).
On Thursday the Final Four playoff will start, we have ADMU Blue Eagles, AdU Falcons, UST Growling Tigers and FEU Tamaraws. The remaining question is what will be the match up? This will be answered after the game of UST vs. FEU tomorrow at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
